GUO PEI: A creative genius and famous for Rihanna’s yellow cape at the Met Gala, the designer created an extravagant golden floral fantasy garden. Her vision for the collection stemmed from the theme that roots are the source of life and vitality. Earrings that represented different growing stages of life, a closed bud to a blossoming peony were enveloped in beads. Rings, composed of clusters of baubles, formed budding blooms on the models’ fingers and shoes looked like roots sprouting in the ground. VALENTINO: Designer Pierpaolo Piccioli had a whimsical take on Valentino’s couture collection. Sure there was the obligatory floral elements to the jewels but we simply fell in love with the hand and scissor motifs the models wore as earrings. It is important to note that Pierpaolo wanted to pay tribute to the tireless artisans and their workmanship behind the garments. What better tribute than with an image of a hand and a pair of scissors?
